TCP is about the same speed assuming you have the CPU
Memory copies and interrupts really eat your CPU	
STP is about twice as efficient on transmit
About the same as zero-copy TCP 
Hardware-assisted STP receive takes about 90% less CPU 
Large packets are good packets
Tigon-II needs a replacement
So does 32-bit/33MHz PCI
