The CERN interfaces HIPPI - PCI

The PCI - HIPPI interfaces have been developed for the CERN NA 48 experiment and as such they are optimized for use in High Energy Physics data acquisition. Some special features are foreseen to simplify event building using ( HIPPI ) network switches.

The interfaces are build as a two card set with the advantages that

Simplex links are possible
On a host with two independent PCI busses Source and Destination can use the full HIPPI Bandwidth
Power dissipation per board is lower and is well within the PCI specifications.
Both Interfaces will be available in the PMC standard format
