High Speed Interconnect Project
The High Speed Interconnect (HSI) is a CERN/EP
project that aims, by working in close collaboration with industry and
High Energy Physics institutes,
to provide high speed links and interfaces for Data Acquisition systems.
The policy of the HSI project is to follow developments in the computer
and electronics industry, to select and test components and modules and
to produce commercially available systems for the experiments.
Part of the task is to gather and disseminate information. The HSI project
has pages on the WWW which provide information on standards
such as ATM, HIPPI, Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, SCI and other optical
links. In addition there are examples of how these technologies can be
used in different parts of a Data Acquisition System.
