HSI - Testing of Systems
Introduction
Future hadron collider experiments present severe problems in moving and
storing data at all levels of the trigger and data acquisition chain.
Commercially available computing equipment will be used at the higher levels of
the data acquisitions systems for reasons of cost and maintainability. This
commercial equipment will use standard interfaces to connect to the data
acquisition systems and will probably run standard protocols. Testers will be
required which can verify compliance with these standards and which can be used
to debug and maintain complex data acquisition systems.
The tester should be able to
The tester should be able to
- Generate and receive data
- Check that the data received matches the data sent
- Spy on the data on a link
- Introduce errors on the link
- Work at different levels of the protocol
- Have a user friendly interface and be accessible remotely
