Simplex G-LINK S-LINK LSC

LSC-S-40-B/W-5.0-80

Prototype of the G-LINK Link Source Card
(Circuit no. 680-1110-900)
The normal version does not use a socket for the Actel and the tantalium capacitors are replaced by ceramic ones.
Note the ceramic (golden) package for the 40 MHz oscillator and the 3V3 drop down regulator in metal can.
The ceramic DIL components are only used in the radiation tests and don't form part of the link.

DESCRIPTION

The Simplex G-LINK Link Source Card (G-LSC) is an S-LINK compliant LSC. It is based on the Hewlett Packard 5 Volt G-LINK transmitter HDMP-1024. The G-LSC can work in conjunction with receiver boards that use the corresponding receiver HDMP-1024, such as the G-LDC. The optical transmitter uses a Methode 850 nm transceiver module of which the receiver part is not used. For laboratory tests, also LEMO connectors may be mounted to access directly the G-LINK serial outputs.

The board uses as much a possible components which should be able to withstand radioactive radiation up to 10 KRad in the total lifetime of 10 year. Many components used are ESA qualified, although it is unsure how many errors the G-LINK will generate when it is being irradiated. Zoltan Meggyesi is performing radiation tests and will describe the results in his thesis.

This card is designed for the PLD irradiation test project and the "G-LINK fanclub". The card is not commercially available.

STATUS

Hardware

March 1999 Design debugged (was easy, no errors at all :-). Five PCBs produced.
Four boards mounted with pattern generator built in in Actel. Will be used in radiation testing.
S-LINK standard LSC file designed, but not tested.
July 1999 S-LINK LSC tested. Ordered five new PCBs (received ten)
3 March 2000 Six boards mounted, but not tested
July 2000 Boards tested and available via the S-LINK Pool
