For some applications the data structure that the SLIDAS sends, may not be the right one. It is possible to modify this by changing the program for the Altera. This program is written in the hardware description language called Verilog. The program files have to be synthesised with the program Synplify or Leonardo, after which the placing and routing is done with the Altera MaxPlus tools.
Those tools exist at CERN. In case you would like to create your own version of the SLIDAS, please contact Erik Van der Bij who may give you some help with the modifications.
3 September 1999 | Latest ATLAS ROD data format implemented. SLIDAS can send now datablocks at frequencies between 25 KHz and 150 KHz and has a built in trigger-counter. Extra documentation written on how to modify the data format. |
5 October 1999 | Documentation put on the web |
